Breakfast at JR-East Hotel Mets Akihabara

Salut! It's Yoko, the hotel-hopping gourmet hunter.
This time I'm sharing the breakfast I had at JR-East Hotel Mets Akihabara.

Breakfast at JR-East Hotel Mets Akihabara

Breakfast is served at "Japan Kitchen AKIBA," at the back of the 2nd-floor lobby.

Japan Kitchen AKIBA

The restaurant has a very Japanese feel!
You choose either a Japanese or Western set, and only the salad and juice are buffet-style.

I chose the Japanese set! There were only about three other guests in the restaurant at the time, and the buffet had just small amounts of everything.

The neon signs with a neo-Tokyo(!?) feel and the ceiling design seem likely to appeal to overseas visitors.

A staff member served the set while I was getting my buffet items.

JR-East Hotel Mets Akihabara breakfast menu
  • Select rice "Kinumusume"
  • Dashimaki tamago (rolled omelet) with Shimanto nori seaweed
  • Pole-and-line-caught bonito, straw-seared (katsuo no wara-yaki)
  • Deep-fried and simmered eggplant (nasu no age-bitashi)
  • Salt-grilled yellowtail
  • Miso soup with Naruto wakame and assorted seaweed
  • Ginger side dish and pickled daikon (takuan)
  • *The shrimp on top of the omelet had no description.

Unfortunately, some items shown in the menu photo were missing from my plate, and most of the dishes were cold through to the center, as if they had been made ahead (sob).
For some reason the yellowtail wasn't so much salt-grilled as something like "salmon-style" yellowtail: salty and dry.
The miso soup tasted like it had three times the usual amount of miso, so salty......

I eat out somewhere every day, but I rarely come across this level, and it was a bit of a shock.

I imagine that because few guests have breakfast, they can't put much effort into it, but I wish we could have freshly made, hot dishes.
The rice, by the way, was delicious ^^

Summary: Breakfast at JR-East Hotel Mets Akihabara

So, at least for the Japanese set, I personally can't recommend the breakfast at JR-East Hotel Mets Akihabara at this point......

The Western set might be different, so if you're curious, please try it!
And if it's good, let me know on Twitter or elsewhere ^^

See you next time!
