Tokyo Marriott Hotel: A Stay Review

Translated from my original Japanese post (2022). 日本語の原文を読む →

Yoko here, hotel-dwelling gourmet hunter @foodie_yoko! I live in hotels and eat out 365 days a year.

I stayed at the Tokyo Marriott Hotel!

Marriott has all kinds of brands, like Westin and Courtyard, but this is probably the only hotel with plain "Marriott" in its name.

Location of the Tokyo Marriott Hotel

4-7-36 Kitashinagawa, Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo 140-0001
03-5488-3911

The Tokyo Marriott Hotel is a 13-minute walk from Shinagawa Station and a 7-minute walk from Kitashinagawa Station.

A big Christmas tree greeted me inside.

It sits on a slight hill, so there aren't many shops around.
But I'd recommend it for anyone using Shinagawa Station for the Shinkansen (bullet train).

The front desk is a bit tucked away and slightly hard to find, so watch out.
What surprised me was that there was even hand sanitizer inside the elevator (as of December 2021).

After checking in, I headed to the room. This time I was assigned a room on the 20th floor! The top floor is the 25th, so that's fairly high up?

The corridors have a slightly dated design, but still feel upscale.

Rooms at the Tokyo Marriott Hotel

This is what you see when you step through the door. On the left is the bathroom area. The bath and toilet are in one space, but it's really spacious!

On the right are the closet and so on.

The vanity is large too. When I opened the white box, it was packed with amenities!! They were all from THANN, a Thai brand. I like THANN because it smells lovely, with orange and woody notes.

The closet has bathrobes, an ironing board, slippers and more. The drawers next to it, where you put your luggage, hold loungewear.

The bed is wide, but it felt a little short lengthwise. If you slide down toward the foot to make room for the pillow, your feet look like they'd hang off the bed.

There's a sofa by the window. The theme colors seem to be purple and gold, and the cushions and chairs are all purple.

The desk has a desk lamp and a chair with a backrest, so it's roomy enough to work at.

Next to the desk are a shelf and the TV. It's in a nice spot where you can watch from the bed while sitting up.

On the shelf, there's an information guide to the hotel.

The hotel also has an executive lounge and a gym.
I couldn't use them this time, but I'd love to next time I stay.

Inside the shelf, there's a fridge packed with drinks, and glasses of every shape.

There are also Nespresso pods and teacups.

On top of the shelf are a Nespresso machine and mineral water, so you can make espresso right away.

They had TWG sencha, jasmine tea, Earl Grey and English Breakfast tea too!

I happened to have a snack I wanted to eat, so I made a Nespresso to go with it.

The purple and gold color scheme and the room lighting combine to give the space a grown-up mood...

Shinagawa is a business district, which might be why the night view from the window was beautiful!

Breakfast at the Tokyo Marriott Hotel

Morning came.

When I went down to the first-floor lobby where the restaurant is, small Christmas trees were dotted around.

I sat down and ordered egg dishes first. Egg dishes are the only item you write on a slip of paper and hand to the staff.
You can choose from fried eggs, eggs Benedict, omelets and more.

The seats by the window were bright and stylishly decorated, but I chose a seat close to the buffet counter lol

They had croquettes, Brussels sprouts, sausages, ratatouille and more.

Homemade tofu. A lot of hotels, big or small, serve this.
Maybe because it's freshly made, I feel like I never get a bad one.

The salad corner was seriously impressive. Marinated red cabbage, broccoli, tomatoes, lettuce... The dressings are store-bought, but there was a huge lineup of them!

In the bread corner there was a "premium shokupan" (Japanese milk bread) made with rich ingredients, and the doughnuts that are a Marriott hotel staple!

But! Even with so many tempting things in front of me... my stomach wasn't feeling great, so I couldn't try many items!

I ate lots of vegetables that seemed easy on the stomach, and everything was delicious!

The French toast was small but well soaked through. I managed to finish it, but I was full by the time I got to the doughnut, so I took it back with me and had it with a Nespresso.

Who the Tokyo Marriott Hotel Is Good For

It's fairly close to Shinagawa Station, so I think the location is handy before or after taking the Shinkansen!

The breakfast buffet has a rich variety of Japanese, Western and Chinese dishes and is a lot of fun, and there's an executive lounge too, so it's also worth using after you've finished your Platinum status run!

I felt I didn't do justice to breakfast this time, so I want to go back for revenge when I'm feeling well lol

If you're curious, definitely check out the Tokyo Marriott Hotel!
