Moxy Osaka Shin Umeda: A Stay Review
Translated from my original Japanese post (2022). 日本語の原文を読む →
It's Yoko, the hotel-hopping gourmet hunter, @foodie_yoko! I live in hotels and eat out 365 days a year.
For the fifth stay on my Marriott Platinum status run, I chose Moxy Osaka Shin Umeda.
To get straight to the point, it's my favorite of all the Moxys I've been to, because it's the calmest!
Location of Moxy Osaka Shin Umeda
7-22-1 Fukushima, Fukushima-ku, Osaka 553-0003
06-6743-4971
It's an 11-minute walk from Osaka Station. In fact, Fukushima Station is closer.
From Osaka Station you walk along the side of a main road the whole way, so it feels fairly far.

There aren't many shops in the area, so the Moxy logo stands out.
There are convenience stores nearby, so I don't think you'll have trouble finding something to eat.
Inside, the ceilings are high and it feels open and airy!
The black-and-pink party-person vibe is toned down, lol. In a good way, it's not very Moxy-like, lol.
The lobby at Moxy Osaka Shin Umeda

Like other Moxys, it's a big space you could throw a party in, lined with all kinds of sofas and tables, and there are games too.

As a Marriott elite member, I got a welcome drink.
A refreshing non-alcoholic cocktail. If I had come with friends I would have played a game, but I was alone, so I headed to my room.
The room at Moxy Osaka Shin Umeda

My room was on the 12th floor. There's actually a mirror ball inside the elevator, lol.
What a party-ish elevator...

The corridor looks like this, with a design similar to other Moxys.

This is what you see when you enter the room. Hangers are on the right and the bathroom area is on the left.

There's no bathtub, only a shower booth.
The bed is big and comfortable. There's a chair next to it.

The TV is big and you can watch it from bed. A table, a luggage rack and other things are mounted on the wall.

Pop art and the fridge. The fridge is so small it barely fits three plastic bottles.
As the message "Too small? Drop at the bar We have a BIG fridge there" says, if you have something that doesn't fit in your fridge, the staff will apparently let you use the hotel's fridge!

The window has a city view. The street outside is fairly wide, so the view doesn't feel cramped, which is nice.
The loungewear is a one-piece style.
Facilities at Moxy Osaka Shin Umeda

This is the gym! It has a stylish feel.

There's a coin laundry too, which is handy. Marriott hotels from the mid-range up don't have coin laundries, so if you're doing status-run stays back to back, it's convenient to stay only at Moxys or to slot in a Moxy now and then so you can do laundry, lol.

There's even a microwave. I don't think I've seen that at other Moxys?
There was also a toaster, though I'm not sure if guests are allowed to use it.
Breakfast at Moxy Osaka Shin Umeda

Breakfast was a set meal plus a partial buffet. For the set meal you can choose from three: JAPANESE, AMERICAN and LIGHT. I chose American.

They hand you a pager like the ones used in food courts, and you wait at your seat until it's ready.

The seats at the back look outside and are bright, with a lovely atmosphere for breakfast!

Much of the buffet is fairly simple. The fruit and vegetables were potato salad, edamame, okra, corn, mixed leaves, sliced onion, fruit punch, grapes and oranges.

There are several kinds of bread. I grabbed a pain au chocolat.

And the mini doughnuts that are a staple at Marriott Bonvoy hotels. The display is cute.

There's a good selection of drinks. The coffee, including cafe latte, is available hot and iced, and there's matcha latte and cocoa too.

Here's everything from the set meal and the buffet laid out together!
The main is a panini-like sandwich filled with hash browns, sausage, grilled tomato and more, and it's quite filling. Tomato juice and soup came with it too.

The panini tasted junky but was pretty good. It has cheese, bacon and egg.
The doughnut looks great but is quite sweet, a calorie bomb, lol.
The buffet had few side dishes, but in the end I was pretty full!
Who Moxy Osaka Shin Umeda is for
This hotel is a little way from Osaka Station and is especially recommended for younger travelers who want a quiet location! The lobby is quite spacious, and compared with other Moxys there were more people holding meetings, and since it's quiet I think it's easy to work here.
If you're curious, please give it a try!!
