Courtyard by Marriott Osaka Honmachi: A Stay Review

Translated from my original Japanese post (2022). 日本語の原文を読む →

Hi, it's Yoko (@foodie_yoko), the gourmet hunter who lives in hotels! I live in hotels and eat out 365 days a year.

I'm at the Courtyard by Marriott Osaka Honmachi!

Courtyard by Marriott is Marriott's mid-range hotel brand.

Location of Courtyard by Marriott Osaka Honmachi

2-3-7 Minamihonmachi, Chuo-ku, Osaka 541-0054
06-6266-5580

As the name "Honmachi" suggests, it's a 5-minute walk from Honmachi Station and a 1-minute walk from Sakaisuji-Honmachi Station.

It's far from Osaka Station, but it's on the Namba side, so it's a convenient location for sightseeing.

The lobby was decorated with bonsai-style art.

After checking in, I took the elevator.

The hotel has 17 floors, and the facilities include a restaurant, a large public bath, a gym and a coin laundry, so you could stay for a long time.

I arrived at my assigned room on the 11th floor!

There was some kind of sculpture, a little dusty but with a refined feel. The corridor is on the dark side, and the area in front of each room is lit by a spotlight.

This time I was assigned room 1110.

Inside the room, there's a full-length mirror on the right, and on the left the bathroom area and a luggage space. Loungewear and slippers are provided.

The vanity and toilet are in the same space, but it's clean and bright! The mirror light is handy for doing makeup. There's a scale too.

To the right of the vanity is the shower room. No bathtub.

It has a roll screen, so there's no worry about being in full view from the room. Lol.

The shower room has a rain shower on the ceiling.
The body soap and shampoo are orange-scented.

The vanity had basic amenities and a hand towel.

In the drawer are a mid-size Panasonic hair dryer and, believe it or not, a hair iron!

Even luxury hotels rarely provide a hair iron by default. It may have just been left by a previous guest, lol, but I'm grateful!

The bed is a generous size!

The side table has a light, a digital clock and a notepad. I can't sleep when I hear a clock ticking, so a digital clock is a key point for me personally...!

Next to the bed are a chair and a closet.

Inside the closet are a luggage rack and an ironing board.

Few hotels put the closet in this spot, but it may be handy if you want to change right after getting out of bed.

On the window side is a sofa that spans the full width of the window, and you can sit with your legs stretched out.

There are USB ports and outlets here too, so whoever designed it clearly understands guests! You can lounge around while charging! Lol.

When you open the roll screen curtain, you see a cluster of buildings out the window.
My room had an expressway on the right side, so the noise bothered me a little.

To the right of the window is a corner with a fridge and kettle.

Mineral water was set out on the counter.

The drawer holds tea, mugs and glass cups.

On the table were disinfecting tissues and senbei (rice crackers).

The TV is positioned well, so you can watch it from the bed or the sofa.

The TV shows the brand movie for Courtyard by Marriott Osaka Honmachi.
There are Netflix and Amazon Prime buttons too.

The large public bath at Courtyard by Marriott Osaka Honmachi

I was fairly tired that day, so while checking the coin laundry availability on the TV, I did my laundry and went to the large public bath! The bath is on the 2nd floor.

Breakfast at Courtyard by Marriott Osaka Honmachi

Morning came in no time. Lol.
I do feel I wake up better after a soak in a large bath.

I headed to the restaurant on the 2nd floor, "STITCH," for breakfast.

The restaurant is bright, with an open kitchen.

They seem to be particular about using ingredients from Osaka, and each dish comes with a note about where it's from and who produced it. I love this!

Food definitely tastes better when you get the background explained.

I sat at a bright table seat and brought the food over.

Salad, grilled tomato, hash browns, ratatouille, roast potatoes, roast onions, sausage, prosciutto, smoked salmon, cabbage rolls and more.

Egg dishes are made to order.

I was happy to find mix juice, an Osaka specialty!

The dried fish was a little dry but big!

Here are the Japanese-style side dishes. The ham with carrot dressing was delicious. There were kushikatsu (breaded skewers) and takoyaki too!

By the way, breakfast at Courtyard by Marriott Osaka Honmachi runs in three seatings, and you have to leave the restaurant when time is up, so be careful! If you want a leisurely breakfast, the last seating might be best.

Who Courtyard by Marriott Osaka Honmachi is for

Courtyard by Marriott Osaka Honmachi is relatively close to the downtown entertainment area, and the rooms are designed more for relaxing than for work. It also has a large public bath, so I recommend it for sightseeing!

It has a coin laundry, so you can stay a long time, and I think it's relatively affordable and easy to use among Marriott hotels!

If you're curious, please go and stay there ^^
