Courtyard by Marriott Shin-Osaka Station: A Stay Review
Translated from my original Japanese post (2022). 日本語の原文を読む →
It's Yoko, the hotel-living gourmet hunter, @foodie_yoko! I live in hotels and eat out 365 days a year.
This time I came to Courtyard by Marriott Shin-Osaka Station! (Stay number 4 of my Marriott Platinum status run.)
Wow, that's a long hotel name, lol. I'll just call it Courtyard Shin-Osaka!
Within the Marriott group, I'd say it's a mid-range brand. It feels more formal than Moxy and more casual than Westin.
Location of Courtyard by Marriott Shin-Osaka Station
It's right by Shin-Osaka Station, so it's very convenient.
1-2-70 Miyahara, Yodogawa-ku, Osaka 532-0003
06-6350-5701
Because of my Platinum challenge schedule, my plan was Tokyo, then a few nights in Kyoto, then Osaka, so I left my luggage at this hotel before heading to Kyoto.
For sightseeing, the Namba area is more convenient than Shin-Osaka, so I think this hotel suits people who are on a business trip and won't sightsee much, who need a night before or after traveling somewhere, or who want to use it as a hub.
Lobby of Courtyard by Marriott Shin-Osaka Station
The lobby is deep.

It was early December, so there was a Christmas tree.

In front of the front desk, there are several large sofas you can sit back in.
There's no dedicated workspace.

On the right is the restaurant, LAVA ROCK.
Lunch at LAVA ROCK, Courtyard by Marriott Shin-Osaka Station
We had time before check-in, so we decided to have lunch at LAVA ROCK.
By the way, if you hold a Marriott Amex card, you get 10% off with the standard card and 15% off with the premium card. Don't forget to show it and ask for the discount when you pay!

The menu had gourmet burgers, curry, grilled salmon, and more.

I wanted something light, so I went with the salmon. It comes with rice, soup, and more.

The salmon is quite thick!
It comes with grilled vegetables, which were delicious.

The soup was a rich corn soup.

Dessert was a yogurt jelly, I think (I forgot, lol), topped with fruit sauce.
Room at Courtyard by Marriott Shin-Osaka Station
Our room was ready, so we checked in and headed to the 15th floor.
They said they'd bring our luggage up later.

The lighting is a little subdued, giving the hallway a weighty, dignified feel.

The key card is a chic black.

This is the breakfast voucher.

The bathroom is a fairly spacious one with bath and toilet together.
The vanity sink is wide, which is nice.
There's no shower curtain, so you don't have to worry about the smell. Nice!

The closet, and next to it, the kettle and so on.
There's a sofa and a table, so you can have tea.

There was mineral water, cookies, and more.

This is what the room looks like from the entrance.
The fridge, tucked away on the left side of the hallway, holds a few drinks.
Next to the sofa there's also a work desk and chair, so you can get plenty of work done.

The loungewear was in the drawer under the luggage rack.

The bed is big and comfortable!!

There's an expressway outside, but the soundproofing is solid and it's not noisy at all.
Facilities at Courtyard by Marriott Shin-Osaka Station
The flyer I got at check-in lists the hours for each facility in detail.

Besides LAVA ROCK, there's a teppanyaki restaurant and a bar, and LAVA ROCK on the lobby level also does takeout.
Of course, room service (in-room dining) is available too!
There's also a gym and an executive lounge.
It seems the executive lounge also offers six food presentations a day.
My plan this time didn't include lounge access, so I want to try again next time!
Breakfast at Courtyard by Marriott Shin-Osaka Station
Breakfast was at LAVA ROCK, where I'd had lunch too!

I like the not-too-stiff atmosphere. The windows are big, so natural light makes it bright and pleasant.

The tables are spaced well apart.

For breakfast you could choose American style or Japanese.
For egg dishes you can choose from several styles, and if you go with an omelet you can pick the fillings too!
And what's more!
On request, you can add udon, cornflakes, pancakes, waffles, French toast, and more.
On top of that!
It's all-you-can-order, so you can have as many refills as you like.

Normally I'd have added everything, but I wasn't very hungry and was short on time, so I added nothing! (sob)
I ordered a fried egg, cooked well on both sides.
The food at LAVA ROCK is delicious at both lunch and breakfast!
And since it's close to the station, I think it's a restaurant you'd want to use even if you weren't staying at the hotel, if it were near you!
Who Courtyard by Marriott Shin-Osaka Station Is Good For
Courtyard by Marriott Shin-Osaka Station is conveniently close to the station and has a sturdy desk that's good for working, so I especially recommend it for anyone sightseeing or working with Shin-Osaka as a hub!
If you're curious, definitely give it a try!!
