Mercure Tokyo Ginza: A Stay Review

Translated from my original Japanese post (2022). 日本語の原文を読む →

It's Yoko, a gourmet hunter who lives in hotels. @foodie_yoko I live in hotels and eat out 365 days a year.

Today I came to Mercure Tokyo Ginza! It's a stylish hotel from France.
It's one of the French hotel chain brands under ALL (officially ALL: Accor Live Limitless).
There's also the more upscale "Pullman" and the more casual "ibis Styles"!

Mercure is a well-balanced hotel: not too fancy, not too casual, I'd say!

Getting to Mercure Tokyo Ginza

Mercure Tokyo Ginza is a four-minute walk from Ginza Station, so access is great!

It also connects from B1 to Ginza-itchome Station on the Hibiya Line, to Ginza Inz, and even to JR Yurakucho Station by underground passage! Handy on rainy days.

The lobby at Mercure Tokyo Ginza

The exterior has a chic navy and copper design.

The hotel elevators look like cages, the kind used in France (sorry, that's a clumsy way to put it lol), and they're stylish!

I took the elevator up to the front desk floor. Christmas decorations welcomed me! So cute!

The lobby is done mostly in navy and pink, my favorites, with cushions and bookshelves that make it feel like a stylish cafe! I waited here until check-in, and everywhere I looked it was cute and soothing lol.

I was assigned a room on the 5th floor, so I took the elevator up!
There was a poster inside the elevator with some writing on it.
It said in English, "We, the Mercure staff, can share all kinds of local tips!" If you want information about the Ginza area, it might be worth asking the staff.

The room at Mercure Tokyo Ginza

We've arrived on the 5th floor! The wall in front of the elevator has art of a figure with shopping bags on an arm, so stylish!!
The corridor's indirect lighting adds a nice touch too. I was assigned room 507.

The lights come on when you slide the room card key into the slot.
The purple and blue design is cute, isn't it?

As soon as you enter, the closet is right by the door on the right!
The closet door is a mirror, so you can check your outfit here.

Inside the closet, there's a shelf on the right, and hangers, slippers and a shoehorn on the left.

On the left of the passage is the bathroom area. The closet and this door are both sliding doors, so no space is wasted, which is great!
Inside it's white-tiled and bright. Only the toilet shows a bit of age, but with a marble-look vanity, a ceramic sink, hand towels and glasses, it feels upscale.

The amenities are a shower cap, cotton pads, a razor and a toothbrush. Yes, everything you need.
By the way, I've always thought shower caps are unnecessary. What do you think?
They'd probably be handy when you're coloring your hair or doing a hair mask, though.

The hair dryer is a mid-sized Panasonic one, which makes me quite happy.
Towels and loungewear are placed under the vanity.

The bathtub is reasonably large and you can stretch your legs. The body soap and shampoo are refilled into original-label bottles, so I don't know what's inside, but the design matches Mercure's interior.

When you step into the bedroom... what a surprise! An adorable bed appears!!
These navy-and-pink cushions are totally my thing. I was won over by the cuteness.

The switches and phone beside the bed show their age, but the drawers are pink with leather handles, which is cute too.

Across from the bed are a TV and TV stand, so you can watch TV lying in bed. There's also a picture frame on the wall.

The TV isn't very big, but you can check hotel information, the Wi-Fi password and so on. By the way, the Wi-Fi was a blazing 290 Mbps download at 8:40 p.m. on a Sunday, so it should be smooth for business use or gaming.

Next to the TV are a chair and a table. This one is navy and pink too, with an ottoman. How cute... It's great for relaxing alone with tea or a book.

By the way, there's an outlet right by the chair, at the window. That's a design that only exists if someone expected you to use power here! Wonderful. Thanks to this outlet, you can charge your phone while lounging in the chair.

Outside the window is another building. Not much light comes in even in the daytime, but on the other hand, if the evening sun streamed in, UV would bother me and it'd be too bright to relax, so I think this is just right.

Behind the chair is a shelf holding an electric kettle and more.
An ice bucket, glasses, teacups and saucers, Ito En tea and instant coffee: plenty of what you need. Open the shelf door and you'll find the safe and the fridge.

In the fridge were bottles of mineral water with the Mercure label!
There were two even though I booked one person for one night, which felt like a bonus lol
According to the hotel guide, you can use Gold's Gym Ginza Tokyo at a discounted rate, so I thought about taking one bottle to the gym, but I never went and just drank it lol

The guide also said there's a service called PressReader where you can read thousands of magazines and newspapers, so I tried to access it, but it didn't work. Sob
I called the front desk to check, but in the end it still didn't work, so maybe the service is suspended.

Breakfast at Mercure Tokyo Ginza

The morning after: breakfast time at Mercure Tokyo Ginza!

I headed to the venue with my breakfast ticket.
Breakfast is a buffet at a restaurant called "Bistro Le Chanson."
You can use it even if you're not a hotel guest.

The venue is spacious with a good number of seats.
Drinks include water, orange juice, and a morning smoothie (a blend of green and yellow vegetables and fruit like carrot, coconut milk, tomato, pear, orange, peach and spinach).

Hot dishes included chili beans, french fries, bacon, fried shrimp, scrambled eggs, pumpkin and more.
Cold dishes included green leaf lettuce, romanesco, cauliflower, cherry tomatoes, macaroni and more.

There were various cereals too.

The breads were Belgian sandwich bread, Belgian whole wheat bread, croissants, chocolate doughnuts, baguette and so on.
I had them with whipped butter and honey. Since it's a French hotel chain I had high hopes for the croissants, but they weren't exceptionally good, maybe? I wish they had fresh-baked croissants, or at least a toaster to re-bake them!

My first round from the buffet. Looking at it, it's mostly Western dishes!
The smoothie was delicious, so I had quite a lot lol

For Japanese dishes, I had miso soup, natto, rice and nori. I always make a point of eating natto when it's there lol It settles my stomach.

To finish breakfast, yogurt with cereal sprinkled on top, pineapple, kiwi and a cafe latte to take a breather.
Thank you for the meal!

Who Mercure Tokyo Ginza is good for

Mercure Tokyo Ginza is a four-minute walk from Ginza Station, and it also connects underground to other stations and department stores, so the access is outstanding! Even when the weather looks iffy, you can check in without getting wet.
I recommend it for sightseeing or business trips around Ginza.
Also, the interior is truly cute and photogenic, so it's good for a girls' night out too!

If you're curious about Mercure Tokyo Ginza, please go check it out!
