Hyatt Regency Seragaki Island Okinawa: A Stay Review
Translated from my original Japanese post (2022). 日本語の原文を読む →
I'm Yoko, the hotel-dwelling gourmet hunter, @foodie_yoko! I live in hotels and eat out 365 days a year.
I went to Hyatt Regency Seragaki Island Okinawa over Golden Week!
This trip was five nights in Okinawa, and until the day before I had spent three nights at Okinawa Kariyushi LCH.
Here's what Okinawa Kariyushi LCH was like↓
Location of Hyatt Regency Seragaki Island Okinawa

The sign at the entrance and the lobby entrance. There were shisa (guardian lions) at the door.
Out of all the hotels I've stayed at while living in hotels, Hyatt Regency is a particular favorite, so I was really looking forward to this. As its name suggests, Hyatt Regency Seragaki Island is on Seragaki Island in Onna Village, and it's a wonderfully extravagant hotel that turns the entire island into a resort.
The Lobby of Hyatt Regency Seragaki Island Okinawa

A lobby lined with lots of sofas. The ceiling is incredibly high! Check-in was pretty crowded, so I had a welcome drink and waited for a while. The well-chilled shikuwasa (Okinawan citrus) juice and sanpin-cha (jasmine tea) were delicious.

From the lobby you can step out onto the terrace, and there's a bar too.

At the back is a gift shop. It sold chocolate, salami, drinks and more.
The Room at Hyatt Regency Seragaki Island Okinawa

I only looked at the entrance of the Club Lounge before heading to my room. The hallway is incredibly wide, which surprised me. I think it's probably the widest of any hotel I've stayed at, lol.

An incredibly solid door. My room was 567. This is what the key card looks like.

Just inside on the left are a luggage area and the toilet. Even the luggage area is lit up, so rich in such details!

On the shelf are robes, and below them yukata (Japanese cotton robes). Personally I prefer two-piece loungewear to a yukata, but maybe inbound tourists enjoy the taste of Japan?

And on the right is the bathroom area. As you can see, everything you need is here!! Nothing to complain about. The bathroom is spacious too, and look at this lighting. I love how Hyatt keeps showing off its sense of style.

So, the bathroom area and the room can be separated by a sliding door. The door is solid and heavy, which gives another sense of luxury.

On the left as you enter the room is a bar-counter-like space. The box holds green tea, sanpin-cha, coffee and so on. There's no Nespresso-type machine.

Open the drawer and there's a row of glasses and cups. There were plates and forks too, so you can eat a little something. Below was a silent fridge.

Next to it is the desk. The TV is big, and I could mirror from Android but couldn't watch Netflix! I borrowed an HDMI cable and tried various things, but for some reason I couldn't connect and gave up.
The table has a desk light, outlets, USB ports and so on, so using a PC while charging is no problem.

On the ceiling is a tropical-feeling ceiling fan, and there's a large twin bed. By the window there's a sofa!

Oh, and the slippers were plush and comfortable. The terrace also has a small table and chairs, and I could zone out looking at the sea.

As for the all-important weather, it was bad the day I checked in, and I did go to the pool, but it was this gloomy. On the right is a photo of the room's balcony the next day, when it miraculously cleared up. It would have been great if it had stayed this sunny the whole time...!
The Pools at Hyatt Regency Seragaki Island Okinawa

The pool is quite large with several types, so it would no doubt be fun even with children.
This is the view from the infinity pool and the resting area.

It was raining, so the indoor pool was full of kids. There was even a fun shower booth with a tornado-like shower.

At night I had a quick drink at the bar. The pool is lit up and has a grown-up mood!

The indoor pool looks cool like this, too. As for the pool, it was cold, so I spent almost all day in the warm jacuzzi, lol.
Breakfast at Hyatt Regency Seragaki Island Okinawa

The next day. It was the long-awaited breakfast time, but it was so crowded that there was a wait. They were handing out numbered tickets, and I waited 10 minutes in the lobby before finally getting in. I chose an indoor seat, but terrace seating is available too.

So I started picking out food right away. This is the salad and fruit. The cherry tomatoes already have their stems removed, which is so Hyatt! lol

Okinawan side dishes and Okinawan pork. Since I'm in Okinawa, I do want to eat at least some Okinawan food. What I love about Hyatt Regency is that the food is delicious. Even though it's mass-produced home-style cooking, it was carefully made and tasty!

Eggs Benedict and omelets. I was too full to eat them! But they looked delicious.

There was quite a wide variety of bread!

What I ate. The Okinawan side dishes were delicious, and I was happy there were meaty items and hash browns (my favorite). The sweet breads were a little dry, lol.
By the way, I normally try every item at a hotel breakfast buffet, but I'd eaten quite a lot the day before, so I wasn't very hungry, lol.
Activities at Hyatt Regency Seragaki Island Okinawa

After breakfast, since the weather was clear, I relaxed at the pool for a bit and then headed to an activity on a tuk-tuk-like vehicle!

It was sunny that day and the sea was beautiful. The activity was SUP FIT, a workout on something like a surfboard.

I'd underestimated SUP FIT, but it was surprisingly tough. You do strength exercises and yoga poses on a board that's hard to balance on, and I managed it while trembling.
But look at that smile at the end!
It was a clear day, and I'm glad I did the activity :)
Activities cost extra, and some need reservations or have limited spots, so if you want to try one, ask the staff!
Who Hyatt Regency Seragaki Island Is Good For
The whole island is a resort, so I recommend it for people who want to zone out looking at the sea without doing much sightseeing, or who want to stay holed up in the hotel. With plenty of pools and activities, plus restaurants and bars, Hyatt Regency Seragaki Island alone is sure to make a vacation you'll be very happy with.
There are also activities for kids, so it's good for families too.
Personally, Hyatt Regency Seragaki Island Okinawa may be my favorite hotel on the main island of Okinawa so far. That's how much I recommend it. Please go and see for yourselves!!
