Courtyard Marriott Ginza Tobu Hotel: A Stay Review

Translated from my original Japanese post (2022). 日本語の原文を読む →

It's Yoko, the hotel-dwelling gourmet hunter, @foodie_yoko! I live in hotels and eat out 365 days a year.

This time I came to stay at the Courtyard by Marriott Tokyo Ginza Hotel!

The Courtyard by Marriott Tokyo Ginza Hotel is known as one of the "three Marriott brothers of Ginza," standing side by side with Aloft Tokyo Ginza and AC Hotel by Marriott Tokyo Ginza!

Handy if you want to try several hotels while working toward Marriott Platinum status, lol.

Getting to the Courtyard by Marriott Tokyo Ginza Hotel

The Courtyard by Marriott Tokyo Ginza Hotel is a 3-minute walk from Higashi-Ginza Station and a 5-minute walk from Ginza Station, a perfect location for sightseeing around Ginza.

The rooms at the Courtyard by Marriott Tokyo Ginza Hotel

I felt terrible that day, so nearly all my photos of the facilities are of the exterior, but the hotel name outside was decorated with a Christmas wreath!

I was assigned room 628 on the 6th floor!

The Courtyard by Marriott Tokyo Ginza Hotel opened on October 2, 1987, making it the eldest of the three Marriott brothers. As a result, the design throughout has an 80s feel.

But as you'd expect from a long-established hotel, it has four restaurants and a gym, and a business center, open 24 hours, with printers and PCs set up so that you might mistake it for an office.

When you enter the room, the layout has the closet on your right and the bathroom area on your left!

Inside the closet are a yukata you can wear as loungewear, a safe, a luggage rack, slippers, a deodorizer and more.

The bathroom area feels a little dated but is cleaned properly. There's also a tub where you can stretch your legs.

The amenities were from NIRVA. It's a Thai brand used in Marriott-group hotels, and apparently it has a reputation for smelling good.

What I appreciated is that besides bath towels, bath mats and hair towels, there were also small hand towels! The hair dryer was a medium-size Panasonic.

There's also a handy magnifying mirror for putting on makeup.

In the room there's a long desk with a slightly small TV and a chair with a backrest that's convenient for work. The Wi-Fi is not that fast at 28 Mbps down, but it's fine for online meetings.

To the left of the desk are a Nespresso machine, a fridge and so on. The fridge has a door and is quiet. The Nespresso comes in two types, decaf and caffeinated.
There's also mineral water, so you can have a good cup of coffee!

When I lay on the bed, my feet didn't quite fit (I'm 162 cm / 5'4"), so I thought it could use a little more length, but there are dimmable lights and outlets on both sides, so you can lounge around while charging.

As for the view, it may have been a coincidence, but I could see something like the wall of the neighboring building, and there wasn't much sunlight, so if that bothers you, I suggest requesting the 7th floor or higher!

I felt really unwell on this day and the next, and although I'd booked a plan with breakfast, my stomach hurt so much that I couldn't eat it at all, so next time I stay I'm definitely going to eat it, lol.

Who the Courtyard by Marriott Tokyo Ginza Hotel is good for

It's within a 5-minute walk of Higashi-Ginza and Ginza, with a convenience store nearby, so the location is handy.

You can feel the age of the building, but it's well maintained, so there's a relaxed feel and you can use it without putting on airs. The business center in the hotel should be useful for work, so I think it's a pretty good hotel for business trips!

It's also a good choice if you're working toward Marriott Platinum status. Why not stay at the three Marriott brothers, together with Aloft Tokyo Ginza and AC Hotel by Marriott Tokyo Ginza, which stand right next to the Courtyard by Marriott Tokyo Ginza Hotel?!
