La Vista Tokyo Bay: A Stay Review

Translated from my original Japanese post (2022). 日本語の原文を読む →

It's Yoko, the hotel-dwelling gourmet hunter, @foodie_yoko! I live in hotels and eat out 365 days a year.

I went to LA VISTA TOKYO BAY, which opened in the Tokyo Bay area on July 9, 2022! LA VISTA TOKYO BAY is a hotel by Kyoritsu Resort, famous for the Dormy Inn hotels with saunas.

I love Dormy Inn, but I'd never been to a La Vista, so I'd been curious ever since I heard the news that it was opening, and I went during the soft opening!

La Vista Tokyo Bay is a whole-building hotel. With 582 rooms in total it's big, so everything feels spacious.

In terms of positioning, I think it's one more brand tier above Premium Dormy Inn (Dormy Inn's upscale brand).

By the way, La Vista means "view" in Spanish, and the concept is hotels standing in places with beautiful views; there are 10 of them across Japan.

It's in the bay area, so the surroundings are open and, as the name says, you see a wide sky. Inside, the lobby has lots of sofas and chairs.

La Vista Tokyo Bay Lobby

The sofas went quite far back.

From the sofas by the windows you can see Tokyo Bay. There's also a restaurant attached at the back of the lobby.

Beside the front desk was a welcome sweet, or rather a welcome snack. It was dagashi (cheap nostalgic Japanese candy and snacks).

For amenities, you take what you need to your room yourself.

La Vista Tokyo Bay Rooms

Check-in at the front desk took a little time, but the battle-hardened staff explained everything briskly.

We took our card keys and used the elevators in the wing with our room.

This is the floor map. The facilities are basically concentrated on the 14th floor: a gym, pool, spa, large communal bath, sauna, coin laundry and bar!

The corridor is simple. When you enter the room, the carpet color changes like an entryway, and there are mesh slippers like the ones at Dormy Inn, plus outdoor slippers too. (You can wear the outdoor slippers to wander around the hotel.)

Take off your shoes here, change into slippers and go into the room.

If you open the door on the left, it's the bathroom area. The vanity had a toothbrush as the minimum amenity. The hair dryer was a medium-size Panasonic!

Opposite the vanity is the toilet. It even has a proper sliding door in front.

And the nice part is the bathroom. It has a proper washing area!!

A fairly large, new bathtub is installed, and the showerhead is small but the water pressure is plenty.

The desk on the right as you enter the room. The door under the desk opens to a fridge.

To the right of the desk is a hanger where you can dry laundry.

The chair has a backrest, so it looks usable for long hours of desk work.

On the table were a stylish Zojirushi kettle, two bottles of Kyoritsu Resort Travel mineral water (one per guest), and a bag for carrying bath towels to the large communal bath in the hotel.

Behind the desk are the TV, an air purifier, cups and glasses. The TV is about 32 inches, not very big. The air purifier, on the other hand, is quite large, lol.

Having multiple cups is handy for drinking water and other drinks separately.

And next to the bed is a big shelf! A single-person-size fridge with a freezer is here too! There's also a microwave, a multi-cooker and more.

In terms of room facilities, honestly you could live here...!

This is the multi-cooker and the loungewear. You can't ventilate when cooking with the multi-cooker, so smells might get into the bed and clothes and linger in the room... but with the big air purifier it's probably fine!? lol

The hotel loungewear looked like a PE teacher's outfit, a polo-shirt-style design in a smooth fabric.

The bed in the middle of the room. The width is neither too big nor too small.

A bed runner is laid over the blanket, so you can use it for sorting out your luggage too.

Beside the bed is a switch that controls the room's air conditioning and lights all together.

La Vista Tokyo Bay Dinner (Yonaki Soba)

Dormy Inn is famous for its yonaki soba (late-night ramen), and it's alive and well at La Vista Tokyo Bay too!

I got the yonaki soba start time wrong and arrived in front of the restaurant SACHI 30 minutes early, which turned out to be exactly right. It wasn't open yet, and while I waited, a line of about 100 people formed behind me...

There are plenty of seats, so once it opens the line probably moves fairly quickly, but I recommend going as early as possible! lol

Hotel guests in loungewear shuffle along the route in a long stream, lol.

You pick your own toppings.

I took seconds (two bowls) from the start, lol.

By the way, there are so many seats that each table has its own name.

Not that it matters, but I sat at Bay Area Asahikawa No. 142! lol

La Vista Tokyo Bay Large Communal Bath

After a short rest, I headed to the large communal bath.

From the open-air bath you can see the sparkling night view of the bay area, and it was gorgeous!

The sauna has windows too, so everyone was looking outside.

Who La Vista Tokyo Bay Is For

La Vista Tokyo Bay's selling points are definitely the night view and the large communal bath. I recommend it for people who live in Tokyo but want a taste of travel, groups of three or more such as family or friends who want a lively stay, and anyone who wants to relax while looking at the night view!

Please go and check it out!!
