Caffice, Shinjuku: A Café with Wi-Fi and Power at Every Seat
Translated from my original Japanese post (2020). 日本語の原文を読む →
Salut! It's Yoko, a food blogger.
I needed a place with Wi-Fi in Shinjuku for a meeting, and I found a café called Caffice that's rumored to have internet as comfortable as an office. So I went to check it out.
Caffice: A Popular Café with Wi-Fi, Connected Directly to Shinjuku-sanchome Station
Cafés with Wi-Fi are hard to find, but Caffice is on the second floor of the Shinyon Curumu building, which is connected directly to Shinjuku-sanchome Station.
You just take the elevator up from the station, so it's incredibly convenient even on a rainy day...!

You can also come up by escalator from outside.
The entrance, with its bare concrete walls, is very stylish.

I went at 11:00 on a Sunday morning.
The café was only about 20% full.

You order at your seat, so I sat down first.
Since everyone is there to work on a laptop, the seats that are easiest to work at seem to fill up first.
Some seats that look empty are actually reserved, so if you're worried, it's a good idea to make a reservation.
The shop guide book at the table says that every seat has Wi-Fi and power!

Even the sofa seats have an outlet on the backrest, without exception.
Here are the drink and food menus.

The food doesn't seem to be a big focus, but there's a good number of drinks in particular.
I wanted to get some work done before eating, so I started with a café latte.
It came in a generous serving.

I sipped it slowly as the meeting began!
The Internet Connection Is Great!
The Wi-Fi was so stable and fast that the meeting went incredibly smoothly.
The café was completely full after noon, but the connection stayed just as good, which is impressive!
According to Caffice's official website, it offers "an internet environment on par with a modern office, with the shop connected to a data center by a dedicated line." No matter how crowded it got, the connection stayed snappy and comfortable.
Lunch at Caffice
We had lunch too, so here it is.
Pasta with salmon in cream sauce.

I had the Napolitan (ketchup spaghetti) topped with a fried egg, plus an Italian soda.

It doesn't feel like they were going for Instagram looks, but the coffee cups and the mug for the Italian soda were adorable.
Heads Up: There's a Two-Hour Limit
After we ordered a late lunch, a staff member came over and gently asked us to leave, saying,
"We have a two-hour limit because there are people waiting, so thank you for your cooperation."
We hadn't eaten yet, so we finished our meal before leaving. Staff also came to the next table, so they seem to check regularly.
In the afternoon there were people waiting outside, so when it's full, remember to be considerate once the two hours are up.
So that was Caffice, one of the few Wi-Fi cafés near a station in Shinjuku!
I'll probably go again. I just hope it doesn't get any more crowded...
