Ritz-nic: A Picnic Lunch at The Ritz-Carlton, Okinawa

Translated from my original Japanese post (2022). 日本語の原文を読む →

Yoko here, hotel-dwelling gourmet hunter @foodie_yoko! I live in hotels and eat out 365 days a year.

Maybe not many people know about this (?), but I tried the picnic at The Ritz-Carlton, Okinawa, called the "Ritz-nic"!

The Ritz-nic is ¥4,600 per person (tax and service charge included). They pack lunch into a picnic box and lend you a picnic blanket, which is a fun service! You can enjoy a Ritz lunch on the beach or anywhere you like on an outing!

Pickup is between 11:00 and 17:30, but you need to reserve in advance and it can get busy, so it's best to ask the Ritz staff early.
As soon as you arrive at The Ritz-Carlton, Okinawa, ask about it!

My room report for The Ritz-Carlton, Okinawa is here:

Ritz-nic at Kise Beach!

We decided to have lunch at Kise Beach, the beach very close to The Ritz-Carlton, Okinawa!

At the reserved time, a car comes to pick you up and takes you to Kise Beach.
They dropped us off at a place called Kise Beach Palace, which sits in front of Kise Beach.

This is what Kise Beach Palace looks like. Gorgeous!

There's a desk for booking marine activities and so on. There are showers outside too, so you can rinse off the salt water on your way back.

To the Kise Beach Area Reserved for Ritz-Carlton Okinawa Guests

So off we went to the beach under the blazing sun!

We set up our Ritz-nic at beach umbrellas and chairs that are probably reserved for Ritz-Carlton guests.

Along with the Ritz-nic, they also gave us a beach basket with towels and other things. It even had mineral water with the Ritz-Carlton logo, so every detail is taken care of!

First, spread out the picnic blanket.

It's made of wool and is wonderfully comfortable to sit on! The back of the blanket seems to be aluminum or something like it and doesn't let water through, so you don't need to worry if it gets wet.

In front of us were the blue sea and marine activities! I played on those afterward and wore myself out lol

The Ritz-nic drink was pineapple juice! It came with plastic wine glasses, chopsticks, a bottle opener and more, a seriously well-equipped set, but we skipped alcohol and stuck to mineral water and juice! Anyone who wants a drink would probably go for the bubbles. I can't imagine swimming after that though lol

Here's the whole lineup of what's inside.

What's in the Ritz-nic
Purple sweet potato chips, salad, BLT sandwich, mixed fruit, pork cutlet, ham, fresh spring rolls, frittata, caponata, marinated mushrooms, broccoli dressed with anchovy, chocolate cake, caramel cake

It's hot, so I ate everything quickly before it could spoil! This is the fresh spring roll. It had shrimp in it.

The simple BLT was, all things considered, the tastiest.

After the Ritz-nic: The Ride Back to the Ritz-Carlton

When you've had your fill of the Ritz-nic, you call from the Ritz-only PHS phone you were given beforehand, and a tuk-tuk-style vehicle comes and takes you back to the Ritz-Carlton!
What a heavenly service!

This PHS can even be used to book the spa inside the Ritz-Carlton! It's like bringing the phone in your room to the beach. The spa was super busy and scheduling was a hassle, so being able to call in my spare moments was handy.

Who the Ritz-nic Is Good For

The Ritz-nic is a fun lunch that lets you feel the Ritz experience outdoors too, so I think anyone can enjoy it, but it's probably especially good for outdoorsy people!?

When you stay at The Ritz-Carlton, Okinawa, definitely give it a try!
